In the UAE, traffic fines often come days later. Deposits cover potential fines and other fees. The deposit is held on your credit card and refunded (fully or partially) 28 days after the rental ends, depending on any incurred charges.
Parking at most shopping malls is free for a set period, followed by hourly charges. Dubai offers roadside, underground, and open-space parking.
